How to Top Up Your eSIM — Add More Data
Can I top up my eSIM?
Not all plans support top-ups. Whether you can add more data depends on the plan you purchased — each plan has a support_topup flag set by the network provider.
How to check: Go to your dashboard, open the order, and look for the Top up button. If it’s there, your plan supports it. If it’s not, you’ll need to buy a new plan when your current one runs out.
When can I top up?
You can top up when your eSIM status is:
| eSIM Status | Can top up? |
|---|---|
| Active | Yes — add data before you run out |
| Data Used Up | Yes — restore connectivity immediately |
| Ready to Install | No — install and activate first |
| Installing | No — wait for installation to complete |
| Expired | No — the plan validity has ended |
| Suspended | No — contact support |
Best practice: Top up when you still have some data remaining so you don’t lose connectivity. Your dashboard shows a usage bar with remaining GB, and you’ll receive email alerts at 75% and 100% consumption.
How to top up — step by step
- Log in to your dashboard
- Find the order you want to top up and open it
- Tap the Top up button (only visible if the plan supports top-ups)
- Browse the available top-up packages — these are specific to your plan’s network
- Select a package and tap Continue
- Complete payment through Stripe (card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay)
- Data is added to your existing eSIM automatically — no new QR code needed
The additional data is loaded onto the same ICCID (your existing eSIM profile). You don’t need to scan a new QR code or reinstall anything.
What happens to my existing data?
When you top up:
- Remaining data is kept — the top-up adds to whatever you have left
- Validity may extend — check the top-up package details for the new expiry date
- Same eSIM profile — nothing changes on your phone, data just appears
- No restart needed — connectivity continues without interruption
Top-up pricing
Top-up packages are priced by the network provider and vary by country and data size. Prices are shown before you pay — there are no hidden fees.
Generally, top-ups cost roughly the same per-GB as the original plan. You’ll see the exact price on the package selection screen before checkout.
FAQ
Why don’t I see a Top up button? Your plan doesn’t support top-ups. This is set by the network provider and can’t be changed. When your data runs out, you’ll need to purchase a new plan from the destinations page.
Can I top up before I run out of data? Yes. If your eSIM status is Active, you can top up at any time. The new data is added to your remaining balance.
Do I get a new QR code? No. The data is added to your existing eSIM profile. Your phone doesn’t need any changes.
How long does the top-up take? Data is typically added within a few minutes after payment. In rare cases it can take up to 30 minutes.
Can I top up multiple times? Yes, as long as your plan supports it. There’s no limit on the number of top-ups.
My eSIM says “Data Used Up” — can I still top up? Yes. The Data Used Up status means your data allowance is exhausted but the plan is still within its validity period. Topping up will restore your data connection.
My eSIM says “Expired” — can I top up? No. Once a plan’s validity period has ended, you can’t top up. Purchase a new plan instead.
